there could be a plethora of data that says otherwise. Secondly, the pool of ships ended up being a lot of the same boats over and over again in each division (noticeably worse in the 8+ bracket's, because "Meta").now I feel like we will just see those same boats for all three ranks, granted the "meta" was there in the tier 6-7 division as well but there was definitely more variety, again this is just my opinion and what I saw in my ranked ques last season. anyone who was any good at the game and who put in the time could climb out of bronze.being my first season I got to silver pretty easily so I am willing to bet the more veteran players didn't have issues. also these people may be trying to get an early start on gathering steel, or wanting to try and get their feet wet with ranked to begin with (everyone has to start somewhere) and yes I am aware random battles are there but it isn't the same play style. and now if anything I would think this will make it easier for less experienced players to squeak by and be in the higher divisions with less experience since its much easier to acquire a tier 8 ship compared to a tier 10 for the average Joe . I understand that point of view from playing other competitive games no one wants people who are new on their team when any type of rating or rank is at stake, I get it. That being said having that lower thresh hold be bronze was a good counter to that. The two biggest things that come to mind.įirstly having entry level at tier 8 might exclude a lot of people from playing all together, which the argument some people will throw out will be that people who don't have a tier 8 shouldn't be playing ranked. I am new and I only have one season of ranked under my belt, but I think the different divisions having different tier requirements was a cool idea.I am guessing WG based the decision to change it on feedback and surveys.
So with the new ranked season coming up and the format announced I have to admit I was kind of bummed.
